PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL

The Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative body to the pastor. The purpose of the Council is to form community as a sign of witness of unity for the larger parish, to provide recommendations for the parish priorities and directions through pastoral planning, and to promote communication and understanding among parish organizations and between parish, diocese and universal church.

Synergia - Pastoral Planning for New Millennium: Each parish and faith community of the Diocese of Rochester is involved in a planning process with is assessing pastoral and ministerial needs in light of priest personnel, financial/ material resources and collaboration with neighboring parishes.

CHRISTIAN FORMATION COMMISSION

This Commission recommends strategic plans and policies regarding the educational, formational and evangelizing mission of the parish. The Commission is responsible for determining the formational and educational needs of people of all ages in the parish.

Religious Education: For children not enrolled in Catholic Schools, a program of religious education is provided for Pre-K to fifth grade.

Sacramental Preparation: A program of preparation exists for each of the Sacraments. Participation in the preparation program is necessary before receiving any of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Marriage.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word: A special Liturgy of the Word for small children takes place every Sunday during the 9:00 Mass.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults: The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a process of bringing members into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church those who were never baptized or those, baptized in another tradition, but who want to join the Roman Catholic Church.

Bible Study: Bible Study takes place in the Fall and Spring on Tuesday morning.  A different book of the Bible is read, studied and explored from a personal and communal faith dimension.

Seton Catholic School 473-6604: Located at 165 Rhinecliff Dr. in Brighton on the campus of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Seton Catholic School provides a complete value-centered education for children in Pre-K to grade 6.

Siena Catholic Academy 381-1223: Located at 2617 East Avenue in Brighton on the campus of St. Thomas More Church, Siena Catholic Academy provides a complete value-centered education for child in the junior high school level (7th and 8th grades).

Youth Ministry: Various opportunities and experiences are available from time to time for those in grades 6 through 12.

Adult Education:  Interested adults meet on every other Thursday evening for timely discussions of faith issues.

SPIRITUAL LIFE WORSHIP

This Commission has the responsibility for assessing the spiritual needs of the people of the parish and making recommendations on sacramental policies and practices consistent with the norms established by the diocese and the universal church. Members for this Commission are drawn from those involved in the various liturgical ministries of the parish.

Altar Servers: Boys and girls from grade 4 and higher are invited to become altar servers for Sunday Masses and other special liturgical celebrations. Adults serve at weekday Mass and Funerals.

Lectors: Men and women who proclaim the Word of God at the Liturgy are scheduled for all Sunday Masses, special liturgies and weekday Mass.

Ministers of Communion: Men and women who volunteer to distribute the consecrated bread and wine at the Liturgy are scheduled for all Sunday Masses, special Eucharistic Liturgies and weekday Mass. They also bring Holy Communion to the Nursing Homes and the homebound.

Ushers: Both men and women are welcome to serve in this hospitality ministry of greeting people and taking up the collection during Mass.

Hospitality/Coffee Hour: This committee welcomes and registers new parishioners to Saint Anne Church. They also arrange for coffee and baked goods after the two Sunday Masses.

Annual Novena to Saint Anne: Since the foundation of the parish in 1930, an Annual Solemn Novena to Saint Anne has taken place from July 17 to July 25 in preparation for the Feast of Saint Anne on July 26th.  A different guest preacher is invited each year.

First Friday Holy Hour takes place from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM every month.

First Saturday Devotions in honor of Our Lady of Fatima take place each month after the 8:00 AM Mass.

Sacristan: The Rosary Society provides assistance in cleaning and maintaining the interior of the church.

Sanctuary Care: The women of the Rosary Society volunteer each week to keep the church clean.

BLD Group: This is a small group from the Filipino Community who meet on Friday evenings at 8:00 PM.

Korean Community: This is a small group of students and families from Korea. Mass in the Korean language is celebrated on the first and third Sunday of the month at 5:00 PM.

Men’s Retreats: An annual Retreat for the men of the parish is scheduled each year in the Fall at Notre Dame Retreat Center in Canandaigua, New York.

Women’s Retreats: Annual Retreats for women are also scheduled at the Retreat House in Canandaigua.

Knights of Columbus: Saint Anne Church sponsors the Blessed Damien of Molokai Knights of Columbus Council 11411 which meets on the third Monday of every month (except in July) at 7:30 PM. The K of C is open to men who are practicing Roman Catholics.

Rosary Society: This group of women sponsored various events throughout the year for personal enrichment and financial support of the parish.

Rosary Cenacles: A number of groups meet daily or weekly in various places to recite the rosary together.

Samaritan Pastoral Counseling 473-2671: This center provides physiological and pastoral counseling for anyone undergoing emotional or family difficulties. Counselors take into account a person's religious and faith tradition.

Music in the Church
Saint Anne Church is known for its emphasis on classical church music.

Saint Anne Choir: The adult choir participates at the 11:30 Sunday Mass and is open to all who wish to sing Choral Literature and Gregorian Chant in the highest liturgical tradition of the Roman Catholic Church.

Organist: A new 41 rank, 3 manual pipe organ was installed in Saint Anne Church in 1995 by James A. Konzelman.

Cantor: Saint Anne Church employs a professional cantor for all Liturgies involving singing, except those Liturgies where the choir takes part.
 
Musica Spei: This is a group of able singers who enjoy performing Renaissance a cappella choral works.

Schola Feminarum: This is a group of women who enjoy singing Gregorian Chant.

Chorus Novus: Chorus Novus is a 24-member Rochester-based choral group that specializes in singing a wide range of chant and liturgical music from the Catholic tradition.

SOCIAL MINISTRY COMMISSION

This Commission recommends strategic policies and programs, which address the social mission of the church. The Commission is engaged in careful study of church teaching and monitors social needs present in the area.

Lilac Group: This group visits the residents of the Rochester Psychiatric Center.

St. Anne Seniors: This is a social organization of elders who partake in various social activities, field trips, etc. throughout the year

Homebound Ministry: Parishioners who are homebound or parishioners who are in various Nursing Homes throughout the county are visited and kept in contact with the parish.

Pro-Life Network: Efforts to promote the Consistent Life Ethic and respect for all life is done in collaboration with other parishes and organizations dedicated to this cause.

Bereavement Group: Those who have experienced the death of a relative or friend are invited to gather for discussion and support on the second Tuesday of each month at 11:00 AM.

Parish Health Ministry: Volunteers assist in the wellness of parishioners through free blood pressure sscreening, counseling and health related issues.

Lenten Soup Supper: On five Wednesdays during Lent,  people are invited to gather for soup, a speaker and Evening Prayer.

Faith & Hope
This is a Alanon group which meets every Tuesday at Noon.

Surrender
This is an AA group which meets every Wednesday at 12:30 PM.

PARISH STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL

The Stewardship Council is a consultative body which provides the pastor with advice concerning the administration of parish financial and material resources.

Stewardship Program: Parishioners are invited to consider giving a proportionate amount of their income to the Lord through the Sunday collection.

Finance & Budget: The parish runs on a fiscal year from July 1st to June 30th. The budget is reviewed quarterly by the Stewardship Council.

Parish Endowment: Saint Anne Church has modest investments under the heading of Parish Endowment, Pipe Organ Fund, and Concert Fund.

Planned Giving: Parishioners are encouraged to remember Saint Anne Church in their Will and/or take advantage of other financial instruments that would benefit the parish.

Catholic Ministries Appeal: The Diocese of Rochester holds its annual financial appeal for the work and ministry of the local church every Fall during the month of October.

Collection Counters: Four teams, on a rotating basis, count the Sunday collection on Monday mornings.

Volunteer Receptionists: The Parish Office is located in the Rectory; office hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 4PM.  Volunteers answer the telephone and the door in shifts of 9 AM to 12 Noon and 12 Noon to 3 PM, Monday through Friday.

Grounds Maintenance: Lawn care and ground maintenance is provided by Seely Landscaping.
